Joelle Grande-Wing (She/Her) completed her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health Education, while serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA. As the Head Start Coordinator VISTA member, her project focus was connecting refugee families to Head Start and Early Head Start programs throughout the greater Phoenix Metropolitan area as well as educating Head Start programs on refugees. After finishing her BA, Joelle continued working as an Employment Specialist supporting refugees and other populations attaining their first jobs in the U.S. Currently, in the Arizona Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP) she is the Specialty Programs Supervisor which oversees the VISTA program, community outreach and engagement efforts, consultations, and the Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program. Through her work Joelle participates in southern border alliance groups and immigrant youth and families coalitions to build relationships with asylum and immigration non-profit organizations working on the Arizona/Mexico border.
